Ft. Meade

Fort Meade is a military installation established in 1917. Located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, Fort Meade is about halfway between Washington, DC and Baltimore off of Route 295.

As part of the 2005 BRAC actions, Ft. Meade will experience a significant amount of on-base growth with the relocation of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), DoD Adjudication activities, and DoD media activities, among others. The Howard County Task Force estimates 22,000 jobs will relocate to Fort Meade over the next 5-7 years, of which approximately 5,800 are BRAC-related jobs. Fort Meade’s BRAC-related growth and its increasing concentration of high-tech Defense agencies are likely to have a significant impact on western Anne Arundel and Howard Counties.
