Ft. Belvoir

Fort Belvoir is an historic US Army installation located in Fairfax County, Virginia, about 13 miles south of Arlington County on VA Route 1.  Ft. Belvoir is the headquarters for dozens of Department of Defense agencies and Army major commands.

As a result of the 2005 BRAC law, Ft. Belvoir will experience a substantial amount of growth.  The relocation of over 60 Department of Defense agencies and activities to Ft. Belvoir (primarily from the Washington, DC metropolitan area) will add an additional 19,000 military and civilian positions to the installation, nearly doubling its current size.

Two additional BRAC-impacted sites are part of Fort Belvoir: the Engineering Proving Grounds (home to National Geospatial Intelligence’s new headquarters, northwest of Ft. Belvoir proper) and the Mark Center (at Seminary Road and I-395 in Alexandria, VA).
